Toms Caribbean Tropicals Inc. has been in business for over 30 years and is well established in the USA. We have never wanted to expand in to the international market. There is plenty of business here in the United States. Large companies like Sea World, Georgia Aquarium, Shedd Aquarium and some state Aquariums often call us to stock their exhibits. We've also do business with 1000's pet shops and some hobbyist.
Diving is a very physical sport. When you do it 2-5 days a week for over 25 years it begins to wear on you. It's been a very good business and we have thought about selling it for years but couldn't do it because the money was so good. Now that we are older. Our bodes can't handle diving the way we used to. I only want to dive just enough (about 1 day a week) to get out a few shipments a week to keep customers happy. So it's time to sell. But I'm in no rush to sell. I feel like I still have another 5-10 years in me.
I have always heard the way big business and any businesss for that matter. Should be run in a way as to have the same amount in the company check book at the end of each year so as not to pay taxes as income for the business. We have always run the company that way. All moneys that go in to the company are used to pay employees, buy supplies, upgrade and repair equinment and give bonuses at the end of the year. Some people want to see big profits at the end of the year. We do not run the company that way.

SPL License....................................These licenses are not for sale from the state any more. They are hard to find and very expensive. The license covers all divers on the boat and the second license covers the owner of the license on any boat or for shore line collecting. These licenses will only increase in value. Who knows. In 10 years license alone may be worth 250,000.00
Boat, motor and trailer.................... 99, 25' Dusky (with small tower), 09, two axel trailer, 05, 225 Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. All in great working order. On the ocean you need to make sure you have good working equipment. Its a long swim home.
Experience......................................It's taken 20 years of figuring out what works best in the boat, with the system and how to keep things alive. It's not something you learn overnight. I will teach everything. Once you learn how. You shouldn't have any problems making a good living.
Dive compressor................We use a compressor with air filters for diving. No need to fill and carry dive tanks. There are 4 150' long air lines with regulators on each line. You can put 4 divers down (max about 40' and 2 divers 60') for about 4 hours with a gallon of gas. If you were to fill air tanks at 10.00 a fill. And get one hour from each tank. It would cost over 160.00 for air compared to 4.00 for a gallon of fuel for the same amount of down time.
Customers........................................24 years of doing business with 1000's of shops, hobbyist and Public Aquariums. We've seen lots of people try to build this business and fail because they could sell their catch. We have a good name and a lot more business than one person can handle. We've done this for years are are getting older and do not want to expand.
Web Site.......................................... We have two domain names. One set up 15 years ago with a high search ranking. We will help you and show you how to make any changes needed to the web site and show you how to build it the way you like. It will also go in your name.
Holding System...............................All new pumps, tanks and plumbing completely rebuilt in 2010 to last another 20 years. Right now the system is in a 16x19 room. The garage the system located in does not go with the business. I will lease it to you for up to 12 months. You will need to find a new location to keep the aquariums in. Fish room can easily be set up under a house, storage unit, garage, back yard shed or a large room in a house that the floor can get wet.
Collecting training..........................I will teach you how, where and when to collect all the critters you need. How to pack and ship your orders. Where and when to take them for shipping. How to clean and care for the system. This is my baby and I want the new onwer to be able to take care of it.
Connections....................................We have a large network of collectors, shrimpers, trappers, and wholesalers in the business that we buy, sell, barter and trade with. You will always be able to move things that are not selling or overstocked by trading with these people.
Dive Gear...............Nets, extra fins, masks, regulators, weight belts, snorkels, fish holding trays, buckets, coolers. We have enough extra gear for about 4-6 divers.
Packing Materials.............................Any remaining boxes, bags, Styrofoam boxes, Heat sealer, Oxygen bottle and regulator.
GPS Waypoints................................24 years of finding and marking all the best spots to dive in this area. Priceless when the water is stirred up from high winds.
